Travel Gram – Oahu

I know it’s been a little quiet here on the blog as of late, and I hope you’ve all have had a marvelous few weeks! I always have the best intentions of blogging while I’m on vacation, but I somehow managed to get caught up in all the beauty of our trip to Hawaii and before I knew it, we were on a plane back home and recovering from jet-lag. I’m not sure how 7 days can go by so fast, but if nothing else, I know we had an amazing time.

This was actually my first time traveling to Hawaii. When my hubby and I were researching where to stay, we came across a little gem of a resort known as the Kahala which is tucked 25 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and Honolulu. The resort is located in a private setting with a very quiet and beautiful private beach. You truly cannot go wrong at the Kahala. Paradise in every sense of the word, with nearly every amenity imaginable, including 4 restaurants, daily water activities and a dolphin and turtle lagoon that the girls loved.

Over the course of the week we enjoyed time spent at our home away from home, on beach and in the pool as you can see above. We traveled with my sis and brother-in-law and our niece and nephew, which was so wonderful for us and the kids as well! Nothing better than enjoying time at such a gorgeous destination with close family.

I’ll admit I’m completely guilty of over-gramming this trip. I probably posted far too many photos on IG, but seriously, I felt like everywhere I turned, there was something new and worthy of capturing.

Here are some of my favorite gramming moments…

In addition to the above, many other highlights included: Waikiki shopping, lunch at Dukes restaurant, learning to paddle board, traveling up to waimanalo and lanikai and having my first ever shave ice, and also spending what felt like endless hours on the beach with my dear family. I couldn’t have asked for more.

And lastly this moment….captured on our last day in paradise.

Travel-gram -New York

With travel and preparation for school to start, the past few weeks have been hectic. It’s been on my heart to share and blog but finding the balance with everything else going on has proven to be difficult.  My hubby and I just recently returned from New York city. We spent 6 days away from our girls for the first time ever which means that all the spare time that we have right now is theirs. Enjoying the last few days of summer and time with my family and loved ones has been wonderful and much-needed, but I’m ready to get back into the swing of things! Starting off with some highlights from our incredible trip to NY, captured via instagram.

We traveled to celebrate a dear friend of 20 years’ wedding. I was honored to be one of the bridesmaids, along with several of our other childhood friends. The wedding took place in upstate NY on the countryside, near Rochester. The views were absolutely incredible! The wedding had many DIY details, mason jars and a color scheme of navy and grey. As you can see I had to make a switch of my shoes to sandals, as trying to trek through grass in heels was not working in my favor! Our experience though, was like no other. It was truly so special to be a part of their day and to witness their love for each other. So great to reminisce with all my girlfriend’s while making new memories in the process. I can’t even begin to express how happy I am for our dear friends, the bride and groom! Wishing them a lifetime of love and all the happiness in the world!

We followed up the wedding with a drive into Manhattan where we stayed with my sis-in-law and brother-in-law for a few days. Let me just say, what an incredible city New York is. Completely fell in love with most everything about it. The shopping in soho and the sites all around us. The food, the skyline. Central Park, views from the Empire State building at night and just the overall energy. Every moment we were there, the city was alive! Of course it wouldn’t have been a trip to NY without a stop at Ladurée on Madison Ave for french macarons. I was in heaven!! No seriously…H E A V E N! Never in my life have I had a macaron so good and I have had a lot of macarons in my life. Pictures don’t do them justice, but we cannot wait to go back for more. For all of the reasons above we’re tempted to plan another trip there very soon!

Travelgram – Cabo

It’s been nearly 3 years since our last visit to Cabo San Lucas, but after an incredibly hectic and long Winter, my hubby and I booked a quick getaway to our favorite little city in Mexico, to regroup, and refresh. The Winter storm that we had only days before we traveled, left us with over 10 inches of snow, plus power outages and down trees so let’s just say we were more than ready to leave town for a few days! Somehow we were fortunate enough to miss the 2nd snow and ice storm that hit our area, so the timing of our departure couldn’t have been better!

We ended up staying in San Jose Del Cabo at the Hyatt Ziva resort just 15 minutes from the Airport and 20-30 minutes from downtown Cabo. Right on the beach, with a stunning ocean view for watching the sun rise and set, and plenty of time to get our much-needed vitamin D. We love the charm of Cabo and the super laid back and easy vibe of the town. The beaches are beautiful, as is the scenery and the temps were perfect, low 80s during the day with a light breeze and mid 60s at night, we really couldn’t have asked for better weather! My girls had such a great time there! We spent nearly every day swimming with them at the pool and playing in the sand on the beach. Ah!! Perfection!

Here’s just a few highlights from our lovely stay in Cabo, in tropical shades, all captured via Instagram.

This was exactly what I needed to get myself back on track in preparation for the craziness the next few months will bring. It wasn’t my intention to stay away from the blog for as long as I did, but I have to be realistic. There’s only one of me and I can only do so much. With that said, things will start getting back to normal around here and soon! I’m already getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day, and I’ll have a very green inspired post to share with you all soon!

Have you traveled to Cabo? If so, what’s your favorite place to stay? If you’re interested in seeing more highlights from my trip, head over to my Instagram @poshlittledesigns for a little video slideshow I put together using one of my fav apps, flipagram. Let’s be friends!

Travel Gram – Disney & Palm Springs

Christmas is less than two weeks and this is my first somewhat Christmas related post of the month, which means I’m way behind! With that said, while I’m in the process of working on some festive themed posts for the blog, I thought I’d at least share some of the IG pics from our travels to Disneyland & Palm Springs last week. A quick 4 day getaway to much warmer temps and lots of sunshine (it was 19 degrees when we left home).

This was our first trip to disneyland with the girls and we were a bit reluctant because they’re still so young, but visiting there was confirmation for us, that it was the right time to take them. When we saw their faces light up at each glimpse or meeting with a character, I knew we had made the right decision. Each moment was memorable! And can I just mention how absolutely beautiful disneyland is during the holidays?! I was mesmerized by the lights and Christmas displays. Especially the Sleeping Beauty winter castle at dusk. It was a truly magical experience and I would recommend anyone visiting DL during the month of December.

After leaving Disneyland we took a short trip two hours from Anaheim to Palm Springs for a few day stay with my in-laws. I love the laid back energy of the city, and the history right in the heart of town. We felt right at home here, and can’t wait to visit again soon!

Here are some of the highlights from our quick trip, captured via Instagram.

And then, we returned home to 14 degree temps, a power outage and frozen water main! Not quite the welcome home we were after. Back to reality!

Have you traveled to Disneyland and Palm Springs? Any highlights to share? I’d love to here from you all!

Let’s be friends on Instagram if we aren’t already!

Happy holidays. More to share soon.

Travel gram – New Orleans

Last week my family and I took a short trip to historic New Orleans for a family reunion. What an amazing time we had in the city! Such a great time that once Monday came around we weren’t ready to go home. It was like one big party while we were there which is probably one of the reasons I loved it so much! Plus we got to spend quality time with some family members we hadn’t seen in years. That combined with all that the city has to offer made it the perfect little getaway for us.

From the incredibly delicious cuisine, to the oversized cocktails. Everything we tasted was fresh, full of flavor and well seasoned. I can say without question that it was some of the best food we’ve ever tasted. My favorites were the bloody Mary’s from Stanley, the authentic beignets from Cafe Du Monde and the famous thin cut catfish from nearly every restaurant in the French Quarter.

Open days gave us plenty of time to explore the city, enjoy live music, go down famous Bourbon Street, and peruse the french market for souvenirs and local goodies. One of our favorite locations to stroll was St Charles Avenue where beautiful homes with spanish architecture, columned porches and rocking chairs lined the street. True southern charm!

There were many great moments to remember, but one of the best was the 3 hour bus tour that our reunion committee set up for all of us to enjoy. We were able to experience the culture, learn the history of the city, the homes, the architecture, and our ancestors, while also seeing some beautiful landmarks and the devastation that hurricane Katrina left behind. This was an experience we will never forget.

Here are some of the highlights taken via Instagram. Between my iPhone and DSLR I don’t think I’ve ever snapped so many photos in my life.

World famous beignets. Beautiful royal horse-drawn carriages in Jefferson Square. The stunning St. Louise Cathedral and live jazz that reminds me of my Dad.

Bourbon Street and the beautiful spanish and french influenced architecture. Me enjoying the sights of the homes off St. Charles Ave. My girls and hubby enjoying the sweet beignets, and the French Market, filled with specialty shops, authentic food, fresh produce, live music, lots of trinkets and souvenirs.

Um…can we go back already?20130717-090119.jpgAs you can see we had a blast and although I’m still in vacation mode, Im forcing my self to switch gears as I have my daughter’s 4th birthday coming up in just a few weeks. I have so much to get done before then, but I’ll have more to share soon.

If you haven’t been to New Orleans yet, I highly recommend going! If you have, please share some of your favorite experiences from the city! I’d love to hear them!

You can view more from our trip on instagram! Let’s be friends.

Thanks for reading!

Hello everyone! I do apologize for the bit of quiet on the blog lately. We’ve been so busy this year, we felt in need of a little getaway, so we took a quick trip to San Diego for some much-needed vitamin d, and r&r. I had every intention of sharing a few posts while we were away but time got away from me. We crammed a visit to the zoo, sea world, the beach, gaslamp, shopping and pool time into 5 days, along with a visit from my dear sister who lives in LA. Although busy, it was the perfect little vacay for us. We traveled with my sis-in-law and brother-in-law and our niece and nephew. Our kids are the same age so it was wonderful for all of us to be able to spend quality time together.

Here are some favorite moments from our trip I captured via Instagram.

The San Diego zoo was simply amazing. We were also right in the Gaslamp district, the prime location for shopping and nearly every style of food you can think of. I’ve traveled to LA many times but this was our first trip to SD. It’s a wonderful option for families because the city has so much to offer. Sea World left us a bit disappointed, but the kids had a blast. It’s about the kids anyways right?! My personal favorite moment was the time spent in Coronado at Coronado Beach. I could have stayed there forever.

Now that I’m back and refreshed I’ll have some new posts coming your way soon.

If you’d like to see more from our travels in the meantime, you can find posh on instagram.

Yesterday I celebrated my 31st birthday in the gorgeous city of Seattle and what a lovely celebration it was. Last year we were traveling at this time so it was nice to take advantage of some low-key festivities close to home. The weather was great with no rain and it was surprisingly sunny and warm. The tourist spots were quiet without the usual hustle and bustle and this was quite a refreshing surprise.

We shopped at my absolute favorite H&M flagship store, did some sightseeing, enjoyed the pier 54, merry-go-round and the Great Wheel, (which I was completely freaked out by, but I put on a happy face for my oldest daughter who was thrilled to ride it.) We ate some fresh and local seafood, sourdough bread, and enjoyed yummy birthday treats from a little French Bakery called Le Panier. I am totally obsessing over this place now! The French Macarons were to die for and were an amazing compliment to my vanilla Rooibos tea from the original Starbucks. Pike place was relaxed and the sounds of gospel filled the market. Fruit and veggies were vibrant and impossible to pass up. I took home some raspberries which I look forward to creating treats with over the next few days.

Here are some of the highlights from my celebration captured via Instagram. Follow me by clicking on the icon to the right.

The day was nothing short of perfect. Unhurried, and filled with lasting memories with my loved ones. I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
