Hello Kitty Lemonade

Oh to be 5 years old! I remember that age growing up so well. When the days were complete with popsicles and bike rides, neighborhood friends and summer’s that felt like they lasted a year long. Do you remember those days? When we had not a care in the world? If only summer’s could last and feel the same now….I would seriously be in heaven!! But as much as I long for that slow down, time just keeps on ticking. Now I can hardly believe we’re only one month from my love’s 5th birthday! Let the party planning begin!

My sweet girl has had Hello Kitty party on her wish list since last year, but this won’t be just any Hello Kitty party. We’ll be adding in many summer vibes, in shades of lemony yellow for a Hello Kitty Lemonade theme. Fitting for the season, fresh and sunny with plenty of hello kitty accents and of course some homemade lemonade too!

Sounds like summer to me!

Here’s what’s inspiring me right now!

top knots and tutus

Rainy Fridays call for plenty of indoor play and dress up time and since the sun will be hidden behind the clouds for most of today, that’s exactly how we’re spending our afternoon.

Top knots, the cutest tutus, and a few snapshots with my canon DSLR and our day is set!

Genuine smiles, a sweet sister bond and candid shots = perfection.

topknots & tutus | Posh Little DesignsIt surely is the simplest things that make for the best moments!

The adorable tutus came from our lovely cousin Stephanie who runs Fingers and Toes Tutus on Etsy. All her pieces are gorgeous and handmade with love. Take a moment to check her out here!

Happy weekend to you all! I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

Four

It’s difficult for me to grasp that my sweet little girl is getting older so fast. In less than a years time we’ll be registering her for kindergarten and this just blows my mind! I swear it feels like just a few months ago that I held her in my arms for the very first time and now in 1 month she’ll be four years old (tear.) Although I’ve enjoyed every moment of her growth, this stage is by far one of my favorites. Whether she’s telling us a story, singing a made up song, doing a little dance, or making a funny statement, she always finds a way to keep us laughing, smiling, and and also on our toes.

I’ve been scrambling a bit lately because I only have a little over 3 weeks to plan her birthday party. Yes, only 3 weeks! Normally this wouldn’t be a big issue, but our schedules at home have been so hectic lately (story of my life,) which is why it’s been a little quiet on the blog. In any event, I appreciate you continuing to read, even during the inconsistent times.

This year she chose a theme of Strawberry Shortcake and I can’t wait to put my stamp on the celebration. I’ve already been busy with the invitations and will have those to share with you soon. In the meantime here’s the shots from our little backyard photo-shoot the other day. Instead of telling her to say cheese, I like to follow her around with the camera while she plays. It’s a sure way to create natural moments and allow her personality to shine through.

what she wore

A coordinating striped summer dress and jeweled headpiece to match our party color scheme of pink, red and green. Both were purchased at Gap. We picked a glittery tutu and pink ruffle blouse for her 2nd look. Both were found at Macys.

Set 1: complete with a smile that light’s up a room and some signature poses too.

4th Birthday

I’ll admit that I’m a bit on the emotional side when it comes to my children and I think it’s because time has gone by way faster than I ever anticipated. Am I the only one who feels this way? I guess my remedy for the time being is to continue taking photos because I find that with each capture, time seems to stand still for at least a moment.

For all of you mommies out there, does it ever slow down, or is this what I have to look forward to for the rest of my life? What’s your favorite way to hold onto memories of your little ones? I’d love to hear them.

Baby Glam

Sundays are usually super lazy for us and I love this because not only do I get to spend the entire day with my family, but I get the chance to work on projects that need finishing. Like the final edits from the recent photo-shoot I did my baby girl. You may remember the IG sneak peek I shared with you a few weeks back. Well, between illness and birthday planning, I’ve finally had the chance to finish them up. Now all that’s left is for me to get them printed on canvas.

If you follow my blog, then you probably already know we’re going with the “Spring in Paris” theme for her 1st birthday celebration. The theme is what inspired the wardrobe that she wore. All super girly and chic. I pulled a few necklaces from my own collection and paired them with lace bloomers, a tutu, and hair clip, all in the color of pink and all purchased at specialty stores locally. It was nearly impossible to get her to keep the tutu on, so eventually I just gave up and let her explore. This quickly transitioned into her eating the jewelry and pulling the clip from her hair every chance she could get. I guess I was fortunate to at least get in a few good shots.

Anyways, here she is. She turned 11 months on April 11th and has started walking. She loves getting into trouble, being testy and eating rice crackers. Her favorite word these days is “more” as in “more food.” She also loves to give hugs and snuggle. We keep expecting that her eye color will change, but they’re still blue as ever. This comes as a bit of a surprise to my husband and I as neither one of us have blue eyes. I have brown and my husband has hazel, and so does my oldest daughter. Just makes baby M that much more unique and special.

I feel lucky to be a mama to such amazing little beings and I love capturing special moments with them! For whatever reason lately, I’ve been really into vintage and sepia. These are my favorite shots of her.

Morning Inspiration

Watching my two daughters interact the other morning inspired some impromptu camera time.

Unplanned, pure and honest.

filled with giggles

smiles

toothless grins

and lots of play.

As you can see from the shots, they already have such a special sister bond.

Priceless moments I live for.

Sweet Moments

My youngest daughter is already 5 months old and growing so fast. Each day it seems like she’s doing some new, something special, something to remember. If I could freeze time and hold on to all the exciting milestones I would. Instead I spend every chance I get chasing her around with my camera doing my best to catch it all. Here she is dolled up in a vintage lace and rose headband and bloomers purchased from a local baby store in my home town.

Nothing sweeter!!

Baby Mila’s Nursery ~ Yellow & Gray

In my previous post Yellow Gray & Glam I went into detail about my inspiration and plans for my daughters nursery and decor. Our goal: to create a light, bright and sunny space for our new little one using a color scheme of yellow, gray and gold, and feminine prints such as damask & paisley to achieve our vision. We added many custom items ordered from Etsy, as well as some personalized touches like the letter ‘M’ painted and distressed by my husband, the wall decal via Five Star Signs and some bird, owl and crystal details carried over from our vintage chic themed baby shower. A tufted pouf, jeweled drawer knobs, rhinestone accents and an ornate mirror finish off the nursery, which is the perfect fit for our baby girl.

See below for links on where to find some of the items seen in Mila’s room.
Crib Bedding: Pottery Barn, Baby Blankets: My Blankee, Wall Prints: Tessyla, Brocade Rug: Rosenberry Rooms, Night Light: Owly Shadow Puppets, Ornate Mirror & Gold Tufted Pouf: Target
