Taking a bit of time to reminisce about the near 2 years that it’s been since my youngest daughter was born. I can hardly believe that in just 1 week’s time she’ll be two! Maybe it’s flown by because we’ve had so many great moments! Of course those great moments include with many rough ones too. Illness, food allergies, sleepless nights…basically typical mommy and not-so posh things, but I would do it all over again and again if I was given the chance!

I do my best to document all of the girl’s milestones because I love to have those moments to look back on. Just last week I followed her around the yard, with my camera in hand for a little impromptu photo session.  Since we’re having a minnie themed party, I used the minnie mouse ears that we got from our trip to disney land late last year as an accessory. They tied in perfectly with her darling pink dress found at target, silver saltwater sandals and a few beaded bracelets.

As you can see, she loves the camera and loves to smile even more!

Mimi’s current favorite things: smiling, finding mischief, challenging mom and dad, being like big sis, singing and dancing and minnie mouse, her stuffed doggy, and soft blankets. Cuddle time with mom, the song you are my sunshine, reading books with dad, spending time with sis.

So grateful for this sweet girl! she’s forever our sunshine!

I’ll be sharing snippets from the planning process of Mimi’s Ombre Minnie Mouse birthday later this week, so check back again soon!

Thanks for reading!

Minnie Invites

I took another unintentional break from blogging, but it was again much-needed. In addition to attempting to plan my daughter’s 2nd birthday, and just life in general, my big brother was married last weekend and I had family in town and my sister staying with me for a full week. I see her so little that I decided to put things on hold to spend some necessary quality time with her and the rest of my family over Easter. It couldn’t have been better.

Now that I’m back at it, I’ve got just two weeks to get my daughter’s 2nd birthday prepared…I’m keeping things quite a bit more low-key this go around and feeling really good that I’ve gotten the most important part out of the way, the invitations, which I made in photoshop, using one of my favorite B&W  images from my daughter’s 2nd birthday shoot. I used the fitting walt disney print in 3 shades of pink for the ombre effect and added minnie’s bow, for the “bowtique” feel her celebration will have.

Of course I changed the verbiage a little bit to share the online sample, but this gives you a feel for the design. Another image from my instagram displays the pink envelopes and pearl embellishments that finished off each of the invitations.

I’ll have much more relating to my daughter’s 2nd birthday including some of the images from her birthday photoshoot to share with you soon. Thanks as always for reading and visiting even during the quiet moments here on Posh. I appreciate you all!

It’s difficult for me to grasp that my sweet little girl is getting older so fast. In less than a years time we’ll be registering her for kindergarten and this just blows my mind! I swear it feels like just a few months ago that I held her in my arms for the very first time and now in 1 month she’ll be four years old (tear.) Although I’ve enjoyed every moment of her growth, this stage is by far one of my favorites. Whether she’s telling us a story, singing a made up song, doing a little dance, or making a funny statement, she always finds a way to keep us laughing, smiling, and and also on our toes.

I’ve been scrambling a bit lately because I only have a little over 3 weeks to plan her birthday party. Yes, only 3 weeks! Normally this wouldn’t be a big issue, but our schedules at home have been so hectic lately (story of my life,) which is why it’s been a little quiet on the blog. In any event, I appreciate you continuing to read, even during the inconsistent times.

This year she chose a theme of Strawberry Shortcake and I can’t wait to put my stamp on the celebration. I’ve already been busy with the invitations and will have those to share with you soon. In the meantime here’s the shots from our little backyard photo-shoot the other day. Instead of telling her to say cheese, I like to follow her around with the camera while she plays. It’s a sure way to create natural moments and allow her personality to shine through.

what she wore

A coordinating striped summer dress and jeweled headpiece to match our party color scheme of pink, red and green. Both were purchased at Gap. We picked a glittery tutu and pink ruffle blouse for her 2nd look. Both were found at Macys.

Set 1: complete with a smile that light’s up a room and some signature poses too.

I’ll admit that I’m a bit on the emotional side when it comes to my children and I think it’s because time has gone by way faster than I ever anticipated. Am I the only one who feels this way? I guess my remedy for the time being is to continue taking photos because I find that with each capture, time seems to stand still for at least a moment.

For all of you mommies out there, does it ever slow down, or is this what I have to look forward to for the rest of my life? What’s your favorite way to hold onto memories of your little ones? I’d love to hear them.

Baby Glam

Sundays are usually super lazy for us and I love this because not only do I get to spend the entire day with my family, but I get the chance to work on projects that need finishing. Like the final edits from the recent photo-shoot I did my baby girl. You may remember the IG sneak peek I shared with you a few weeks back. Well, between illness and birthday planning, I’ve finally had the chance to finish them up. Now all that’s left is for me to get them printed on canvas.

If you follow my blog, then you probably already know we’re going with the “Spring in Paris” theme for her 1st birthday celebration. The theme is what inspired the wardrobe that she wore. All super girly and chic. I pulled a few necklaces from my own collection and paired them with lace bloomers, a tutu, and hair clip, all in the color of pink and all purchased at specialty stores locally. It was nearly impossible to get her to keep the tutu on, so eventually I just gave up and let her explore. This quickly transitioned into her eating the jewelry and pulling the clip from her hair every chance she could get. I guess I was fortunate to at least get in a few good shots.

Anyways, here she is. She turned 11 months on April 11th and has started walking. She loves getting into trouble, being testy and eating rice crackers. Her favorite word these days is “more” as in “more food.” She also loves to give hugs and snuggle. We keep expecting that her eye color will change, but they’re still blue as ever. This comes as a bit of a surprise to my husband and I as neither one of us have blue eyes. I have brown and my husband has hazel, and so does my oldest daughter. Just makes baby M that much more unique and special.

I feel lucky to be a mama to such amazing little beings and I love capturing special moments with them! For whatever reason lately, I’ve been really into vintage and sepia. These are my favorite shots of her.

Holiday Wishes

Christmas is finally here, and although it has been an extremely busy month for us, we always find it important to take time to enjoy the little things. Whether its a big smile or laugh from our 7 month old, a silly statement from our oldest daughter, or the two of them just being themselves, it is the simplicity in these experiences that matter most. Like the moments they enjoyed in front of the tree the other morning. Not surprisingly they didn’t last long. My youngest had another agenda..places to go and mischief to find, but I was fortunate to have help from big sister in order to sneak in a few good shots…

Moments like this are what this time of year is all about and my wish to all of you is a holiday filled with the very same!

Check back soon for more posh.

It has been an extremely busy week here at home and with Christmas only 9 days away there is still plenty left to accomplish. Luckily my oldest daughter is done with preschool and dance class until the new year so I’ll have more time coming up to finish my list of holiday to dos. By the time I get it all done, Christmas will be over, but I love this time of year nonetheless. My oldest daughter is now 3 and this seems to be the first year that she truly understands the holiday. Just seeing her face light up makes all this busyness completely worth it and since this is my 7 month old’s first Christmas this is certainly a special year for us.

Last week we focused on getting our home holiday ready. Picking out the perfect tree which involved us going to a local tree farm and cutting down our own. This is a long loved family tradition my hubby and I started even before our girls were born. We also decorated our home with old and new Christmas decorations, got shopping out of the way, holiday cards addressed and ready for mailing, homemade goodies prepped and ready for gifting…is this starting to sound like a Christmas song to you, or is it just me? Well speaking of songs, having my favorite holiday music playing in the background is the perfect way to get me in the Christmas spirit, especially when listening to my old vinyl. But my highlight of the week by far had to be the matinee viewing of the nutcracker with my oldest daughter. Some much needed Mommy/daughter time, plus a stunning and mesmerizing performance that was the perfect finish to our hectic holiday week, with Instagram there to capture it all.

I have more Christmas posts coming soon, including a few simple and last minute recipes like the grasshopper bark seen above. Be sure to check back in for your dose of holiday posh.

Morning Inspiration

Watching my two daughters interact the other morning inspired some impromptu camera time.

Unplanned, pure and honest.

filled with giggles

toothless grins

and lots of play.

As you can see from the shots, they already have such a special sister bond.

Priceless moments I live for.
