Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Homemade Cranberry Sauce | Posh Little Designs

Thanksgiving is less than 24 hours away and I have much to do before my family arrives. That means I’ll be spending the majority of my time in the kitchen today finishing all my prep work, for tomorrow’s festivities.

Luckily I have many recipes that I’ve known for years, some dating back to when I was growing up to rely on. One of my favorites is a 5 ingredient Cranberry sauce that’s fresh, simple, tangy and delicious, making it a must add to your holiday menus.

Because today’s such a busy day, I snapped and edited a few photos of the Cranberry sauce via VSCO Cam and Instagram to share with you today. As you can see I had a little helper, who’s also a big fan of this recipe. If she loved it, I’m certain you will too!

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Cinnamon sticks, raw turbinado sugar, fresh squeezed orange juice and orange zest blended together with the cranberries for a tart and delicious holiday topping.

Citrus & Spice Sangria

One of my favorite adult beverages to serve when I’m hosting a party is sangria. I just love how simple it is to make, and how the flavors can be so easily adjusted to match the holiday that you’re celebrating.

Citrus & Spice Sangria | Posh Little Designs

Today I tested out a new sangria concoction that I’ll be adding to my Thanksgiving menu next week. The colors and flavor profiles remind me of the season, complete with tangerines, sweet persimmons, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, elderflower liqueur and sauvignon blanc.

An instant fave, that truly tastes like Fall in a glass, if there were ever such a thing!

Citrus & Spice Sangria

A sweet and tart blend of fall fruits and spice, floral liqueur and white wine. The vanilla bean adds a smoothness with fruity floral notes from the liqueur, with a mild cinnamon finish.

Ingredients/Supplies

Medium sized pitcher

1 bottle of your favorite Sauvignon blanc (I chose Sauvignon blanc because it’s less sweet and has many floral notes. You could also try chardonnay or pinot grigio.)

1/2 cup St. Germaine – elderflower liqueur

1/4 cup Cointreau

3 tangerines sliced into 1/4 inch rounds

2 persimmons rinsed and sliced into 1/4 inch rounds (cut a few rounds into quarters and set aside for drink garnishes)

1 vanilla bean bruised

8 cinnamon sticks (2 for sangria remaining for drink garnish)

1 16 oz bottle of club soda or sparkling water

Instructions

Place sliced persimmons & oranges, cinnamon sticks and vanilla bean into your pitcher.

Add St. Germaine, Cointreau and the entire bottle of white wine.

Stir and place in the fridge, allowing flavors to blend for at least 2 hours (make up to 24 hours ahead.)

Add sparkling water or club soda when ready to serve. Add to taste.

Pour sangria into your favorite wine glasses and garnish with cinnamon sticks and quartered persimmons or tangerines.

Still 6 days and counting, but luckily I have this test batch of sangria to finish up just in time for the weekend! One of the many perks of blogging. Cheers friends and happy Friday!

Birthday Gram – Las Vegas

Last weekend my hubby and I flew to Vegas for my birthday. This was last-minute, somewhat unexpected travel, but I’m so glad we decided to make the trip, because it turned out to be the perfect couples getaway. My sister in law’s birthday actually falls on the day before mine so each year we make an effort to celebrate together and since they just happened to be in Vegas the same weekend, in addition to my dear sis from LA, the timing couldn’t have been better!

The weekend moved by so quickly that I didn’t have much time for photos with my dslr camera, but I did capture many shots via instagram.IMG_6691.JPG

I truly cannot remember ever having a birthday celebration this wonderful. Thanks to my dear husband and amazing sister, I had the absolute time of my life and felt completely and utterly spoiled from start to finish.

From our stay at the Palazzo, to the gifted tiara and french macarons, the atmosphere, the laughs and the shows, the weather, quality time with my family…the list goes on.

IMG_6692.JPGThe only difficult part of course, was being away from our girls for a few days, but they had so much fun spending quality time with their Grandmas for the weekend.

This was certainly a much deserved break for me and my hubby. We all deserve those from time to time, especially on special occasions right?! Well aside from feeling a bit tired, I’m excited to get back to creating and will have some fresh concepts to share with you all soon. In the mean time, let’s be friends on IG: @poshlittledesigns.

Check back soon.

Mammogram Party

Earlier in October I took part in an annual Mammogram Party in my home town. This was an event put together locally to help raise awareness about breast cancer and provide knowledge and important info to women about annual screenings. Those who attended were able to schedule their screening appointments while also enjoying prizes, goodie bags treats, hair extensions and plenty of shopping from some fabulous vendors.

The event lasted from 9-3 pm and I had my Posh Little Designs booth set up, with many products on display and for sale from my online shop. Everything from cookie cutters and baking cups, to cupcake liners, paper straws, cupcake toppers and much more. I also baked up a batch of sugar cookies in themes to match the event which were given away for donation. Since most of my business is online based, it was refreshing to speak to customers face to face and interact on that level. I enjoy both aspects very much!

For this event I again chose a mostly white backdrop, and tied in shades of black, pink and silver through my products and samples. I hung tassel garland in textured white, displayed simple white roses in my most favorite goblets from the Oh Joy! For Target party collection, and once again took advantage of the wonderful free awareness prints from Heather of Chickabug.

I’ll be donating 20% of all proceeds from the event, in addition to sales of awareness themed and pink products from the shop for the month of Oct. to a local non-profit breast cancer organization known as Team Julia. You can find out more details about this wonderful charity by following the link above.

How wonderful it was to be involved in this event again this year! Thank you so much to Cassie, my great friend Christy and all the rest of the amazing ladies who made this event such a great success!

Much more to share soon!
